Sources and references
SwingPuzzles historical articles draw on established secondary sources. We aim for accuracy and clarity for general readers, not original archival publication.
Types of sources we rely on
Depending on the topic, editors consult encyclopedia entries, museum and national archive explainers, university and library reference pages, and well-documented contemporary reporting summaries.
Outbound citations appear sparingly in articles when a specific institution or work helps readers go deeper. Not every page lists a full bibliography; the Editorial Policy describes our verification practice.
Examples of reference classes
Encyclopedic references (for example Britannica-style overviews), museum collections and exhibition notes, government or institutional chronologies, and standard historical reference works for battles, treaties, and biographies.
We prefer sources that are stable, attributable, and widely cited over anonymous or unverifiable pages.
Images and puzzles
Puzzle imagery is chosen to illustrate the day’s story. Image rights and sourcing are handled separately from textual citation. Captions and alt text aim to describe the scene and relevant entities without keyword stuffing.
